New Mexico Corrections Releases
The New Mexico Corrections Department operates the statewide prison system and public probation and parole functions. It is not the Mora County jail. NMCD states that its Offender Search has no jurisdiction over county or city detention facilities. A person appears in this route after state commitment, confinement in an NMCD institution, or covered community supervision.
Release from an NMCD prison can mean parole to community supervision, transfer under another detainer, or the end of the state confinement term. Complete discharge means the custody or supervision duty named in the state record has ended. None of these outcomes automatically rules out a separate local, federal, or immigration matter.
The state release record should be read with the judgment and sentence. The judgment sets the legal term. NMCD applies time already served and lawful deductions. The Adult Parole Board may decide a parole question, and the final custody record documents the actual event.
Search NMCD Inactive Records
The NMCD Offender Search accepts a first name, last name, or NMCD number. The live application also offers Active, Include Inactive, and Absconder Only choices. A released-history search should select Include Inactive. Use an NMCD number when known because it is more stable than a name.

- Compare the middle name, age or date details, identifiers, offenses, and location before choosing a result.
- Copy only the exact status, institution, supervision, and sentence or release-related labels actually shown.
- Confirm the result with the institution, supervising office, or formal record.
The NMCD search scope and update notice gives the official starting point and its jurisdiction limits. That scope warning prevents a state result from being used as a substitute for a Mora contract-jail booking record.
NMCD Release Search Fields
The embedded application supplies Last Name, First Name, and Offender Number inputs. Its filters serve different questions. Include Inactive is the released-history control. Absconder Only concerns an alleged supervision status and is not a release-date search.

No lawful released sample was captured during research. Therefore, no exact public release-status label, universal projected-date field, result retention period, or profile photograph is promised. A missing result can reflect an update delay or technical issue and does not establish release.
NMCD Release Update Timing
NMCD publishes two different update schedules. Adult Prison Division information updates nightly, and new prison information may take up to a day to appear. Probation and Parole information updates in real time. “Real time” still does not remove the need to verify a legal status because people move and offices change.

A person outside prison may still be on parole or probation. Parole usually follows release from a prison sentence. Probation is a court-ordered community sentence or a suspended or deferred part of a sentence. A continuing supervision entry supports a post-prison status, subject to field-office confirmation.
Note: Wait for the published prison update interval before treating a missing or unchanged NMCD profile as a release event.
NMCD Release Date Calculation
NMCD Offender Management Services, or OMS, calculates proper state-prison release dates from judgments and sentences. It accounts for time already served and posts earned and forfeited good-time deductions under statute and policy. A projected date is a working calculation, not proof that the person has left an institution.
Section 33-2-34 NMSA 1978 sets earned meritorious deduction categories. The often repeated 85-percent idea applies through the deduction limit for the serious-violent-offense category. It is not a universal rule for every New Mexico prisoner. Offense date, statutory category, earned or lost deductions, and the controlling judgment all matter.
A release date can change when a judgment is corrected, time served is applied, deductions are earned or forfeited, terms are clarified as concurrent or consecutive, a court modifies the sentence, the Parole Board acts, or another detainer controls the destination. OMS, not a public calculator, performs the official computation.
Important: A projected NMCD release date can change and does not prove physical release. Confirm the actual event with the responsible institution or record.

NMCD Release Records Request
A formal request is the durable route when the public profile does not answer the release question. Ask for existing records with enough detail to identify the person and time period. Include the NMCD number, full name, approximate custody dates, and the specific release, discharge, or sentence-computation record sought.
The official NMCD NextRequest portal provides the state records-request path rather than a live status line. The portal can preserve the request and response. Ask for electronic copies, accept lawful redaction, and request the legal basis for any denied part.

The general contact channel should not be treated as a live release-status line. Use the institution, field office, Victim Services where eligible, or the formal record process according to the question.
NMCD Supervision After Release
A state prisoner can leave confinement and remain under parole supervision. The NMCD Probation and Parole search layer can then supply the public status and office information. Its data updates in real time, but NMCD directs users to contact the field office because location and legal status can change.
Mora belongs to Region I and the Fourth Judicial District. The official Region I page lists Las Vegas District Office 4 as a nearby office, but it does not promise that every Mora supervisee reports there. Verify the assignment before travel. An absconder label generally concerns an alleged failure to remain in required contact. It is not a release date. An old selective wanted posting is also not enough to establish a current warrant. Confirm that status through NMCD, the responsible court, or law enforcement.
Mora Has No NMCD Prison
The New Mexico Counties detention report found no adult prison or detention facility in Mora County. Official Mora minutes name San Miguel County as the primary contract jail and Santa Fe County as backup when the primary is unavailable or full. A person sentenced to state imprisonment can then enter an NMCD facility elsewhere in New Mexico.
This distinction sets the correct record path. The outside county jail owns its booking and release timestamp. NMCD owns the state-prison intake, sentence administration, release calculation, and state status record. The Mora court keeps the judgment and other filed case material. These records may describe consecutive stages, not conflicting versions of the same stage.
No result should be forced into the wrong system. A Mora arrest does not make NMCD the booking custodian. Likewise, transfer from a contract jail to NMCD is continued state custody, not community release.
Note: Identify the custody stage first, then use the county facility, Mora court, or NMCD record that controlled that stage.
Confirm NMCD Release Destinations
The strongest confirmation combines the exact public status with a state release or discharge record and any supervision entry. Check for a receiving authority when a detainer is noted. A state release can lead to parole, another local jail, federal custody, or immigration custody rather than an unrestricted return to the community.

Use the Mora County release search when the state record is only one part of a longer local, court, or federal path. A disappeared NMCD profile does not establish that every custody or supervision obligation ended.
